Peggy Lynn Cornett, Rivanna Garden Club, Garden Club of Virginia Honorary Member

Peggy holds bachelor's degrees in English and botany form UNC-Chapel Hill, and a master’s from the University of Delaware's Longwood Gardens Graduate Program. Peggy serves as Curator of Plants at Monticello, and previously was Director of the Thomas Jefferson Center for Historic Plants at Tufton Farm (1992-2009) and has worked in restored gardens at Old Salem in North Carolina and Oak Alley Plantation in Louisianna.

Rivanna Garden Club members have enjoyed and learned from Peggy’s garden walks at Monticello and many have tuned in to hear her as a frequent guest on NPR’s Virginia Home Grown and P. Allen Smith's Garden Home. A writer of gardening articles and magazines, Peggy is available for expert advice to all club members.

Peggy is an active member of Albemarle County Natural Heritage Committee; member, Piedmont Virginia Bird Club; member, Piedmont Landscape Association; member, Thomas Jefferson’s Poplar Forest Garden Advisory Panel; and Editor of Magnolia, a publication of the Southern Garden History Society.
 

Kit Sullivan, The Boxwood Garden Club
Kit has a wonderful English garden where she shares her love of cutting flowers. Kit has hosted club workshops in her garden where members created Christmas arrangements and also made arrangements to give to Life and Guest Boxwood Garden Club members. In 2019 and 2023, Kit received two awards from The Boxwood Garden Club: The Horticulture Award of Merit and the Horticulture for Participation Award. She serves on The Boxwood Garden Club’s Daffodil and Lily Committees.

She is a member of the GCV Horticulture Committee, where she is current co-chairman of the 2024 Horticulture Field Day in Leesburg. Kit has shared her love of flowers by serving as a workroom volunteer assisting exhibitors at the GCV Symposium and GCV Daffodil Day. Kit is also an accredited GCV Artistic Design Judge.

Suzi Worsham, Leesburg Garden Club
Suzi currently serves as chairman for the Lily and Daffodil Collections for Leesburg Garden Club and serves on the GCV’s Horticulture and Lily committees.

Suzi serves on the Leesburg Garden Club Horticulture Committee and the Lily Committee. She also serves on the Boards of the Potomac Lily Society, the Washington Daffodil Society and is an active member of the North American Lily Society. She is currently PR Co-chairman of the ADS National Daffodil Convention and is opening her gardens to its attendees. She still finds time to place Leesburg Garden Club orders for the daffodil and lily collections.

As a member of the GCV Horticulture Committee, Suzi inspired the plan for the 2024 Horticulture Field Day in Leesburg, where her gardens and other notable properties will be open to attendees. Suzi and her husband maintain more than 30,000 daffodil bulbs on their property, Riverside on the Potomac.
