Ceci has won countless awards for her horticulture in Virginia and nationally. She travels all over the United States as a horticultural judge of daffodils.
Molly Brown, The Blue Ridge Garden Club
Co-founder of Roots & Shoots Intergenerational School Garden, Molly has coordinated this entire program in Lexington since it was started eighteen years ago.
Romayne Byrum, The Elizabeth River Garden Club
Batten Bay Farm was established by Romayne and her husband for the purpose of providing naturally grown vegetables and flowers and of becoming an educational location to teach sustainable agriculture and community supported agriculture. Interns from Christopher Newport University learn onsite each semester.
Margaret Bradford French, The Virginia Beach Garden Club
Meg, a landscape designer by profession, gives her time and knowledge freely. She was a key figure in designing Mary’s Healing Garden at Sentara Virginia Beach Hospital. This is only one of the many projects she worked on with her club and in the local community.
Beth Holt, The Princess Anne Garden Club
A member of Lynnhaven River NOW and a Pearl Home owner, Beth, in the words of a friend is: “the most dedicated and faithful steward of the land and horticulture; always caring for the old and adding the new and interesting.”
Mercer Wellford O’Hara, The Garden Club of the Northern Neck
In the community, Mercer designed and planted the garden at the local history museum. She is an organic gardener who practices sound environmental techniques in her gardens. She helps maintain the historic garden at her home, Sabine Hall.
Dianne Pfizenmayer, The Augusta Garden Club
In addition to sound environmental practice, Dianne has creatively molded her garden to reflect her love of history, wild and cultivated plants and conservation. She was responsible for the bedding and urn planting design for the Club’s seasonal project at the Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library and Museum Gardens.
Joyce Rice, Roanoke Valley Garden Club
Joyce has served as her Club’s daffodil chairman for many years and also has served on the GCV Daffodil Committee. She generously shares her knowledge and has written articles about daffodils for the GCV Journal.
Katherine Clark Wray, The Petersburg Garden Club
A superb example of gardening in a small area is Kay’s condominium garden. She creates stunning seasonal displays using perennials and annuals with an emphasis on native plants. Container gardening has become her specialty, allowing her to experiment with new varieties in a controlled space.
